1st Dance Tips

1. Plan ahead! If you want to learn and be comfortable with your first dance, start your lessons about 4-6 months before the wedding day.

2. Find an instructor. Call or visit different instuctors and find one that will make your lessons fun an enjoyable!

3. Choose a package. The best way to choose the package that's right for you is to get on the dance floor and see what it's all about. Take advantage Introductory Specials and find out what it will take to make your 1st dance perfect!

4. Have 2-3 songs to choose from and bring them to your first lesson. You may like the look and feel of some dance styles more than others. I can show you which styles of dance go nicely with each song and show you some basics to try out at home before making your final decision.

5. Envision your dance and share your thoughts with your instructor. This is your dance, so make sure it looks and feels the way you want it to!

6. Practice makes perfect! Set aside 10-15 minutes twice a week to review and practice what you've learned. You'll be amazed at how much more comfortable you'll feel at your next lesson!

7. Find out the size/dimensions of your dance floor and if they would allow you to use the space (for a lesson or just a few practice runs) 1-2 weeks before the wedding.

8. Wear or bring shoes that are similar to the ones you'll be wearing for the wedding to your lessons (especially ladies). If you don't have similar ones, bring the actual shoes to the last 2 lessons (and a pair of socks to put over them if you're worried about scuffing or marking them up). Ladies should also consider their dresses when learning dance moves...inform your instructor of any restrictions you may have when all gowned up.

9. Burn a CD of just your song (and test it) to give to the DJ/Band.

10.RELAX & HAVE FUN!! This song and dance is an expression of your love, so let it show - look into each other's eyes, smile, laugh, talk and enjoy the moment!
